I grew up in Texas, and I can still feel my first pair of cowboy boots — square-toed, blue denim, an absolute knockout paired with my footie pajamas on Christmas morning. I couldn't get out the door fast enough to break them in on the field behind the house. Looking back, that's exactly when the love affair started.

Boots started out doing a job, plain and simple — until the Chisholm Trail cattle drives reshaped them into something better. The toe sharpened to a point for sliding into a stirrup. By mid-century, boots stepped off the trail and into the spotlight, turning into full-blown wearable art: hand tooling, inlay, overlay, exotic leathers, and toe-and-heel styles nobody had dreamed up before.
